Humans are naturally drawn to pets. It is no wonder why some people go to great lengths in order to acquire and properly care for their pets.

There are many factors that cause an animal to be so expensive, which include the uniqueness of the breed, the quality of the fur and many other factors. It will be interesting to determine if the companionship offered by these pets are worth their actual value.

So, what are the outrageously expensive pets that owners still have to scoop their poop?

Cats are a favorite choice of pet for a lot of pet lovers which is why this one makes it to the list. It is a pretty expensive cat, too, valued at nearly $23,000. This breed is a hybrid of two other prominent feline breeds: the Asian Leopard and the African Serval.

Ashera cat is a very valuable breed. It is also quite large for a cat, which can grow up to 25-30 lbs in weight, and is known to be hypoallergenic.

Goliath Palm Cockatoo ($15,000 to $20,000)

For bird enthusiasts who wanted to collect the Goliath Palm Cockatoo, you need to save up in order to get this as it comes no cheaper than $15,000.

This is more expensive than other breed of birds, such as the Hawaiian Macaw and Black Cockatoo.

Lancelot Encore (Cloned Dog) - ($155,000)

A nice couple lost Lancelot, a Labrador Retriever, due to cancer. They had their dog cloned when they won a dog-cloning auction at a bid of $155,000.

They welcomed the new dog, also named Lancelot, that looks exactly like the dog they lost. The cloned copy Lancelot has many similarities with the original dog in behavior.

Deveronvale Perfection, Sheep ($378,000)

A sheep might not pop up in mind as your first choice of pet, but this particular type of sheep is very expensive! During a 2009 auction, it was bid for up to $378,000.

This sheep is known to exemplify the perfect look for a sheep (thus, the name) that includes a strong head, sturdy and straight frontal legs, solid feet, and a good back end.

Big Splash – Red Tibetan Mastiff ($1,500,000)

Dog is indeed man’s best friend. However, for a best friend, this dog comes with a pretty expensive price tag! The Tibetan Mastiff was named as the world’s most expensive dog and pet in March 2011 for its staggering $1.5 Million in price, which is 10 million Yuan in China, where it originates.

The most expensive dog weighs approximately 180 pounds and this is the reason why it was dubbed as the “Big Splash”. This type of dog is considered holy and is believed to bring good health and security to owners. In addition, it is also considered as a status symbol in China.

Green Monkey (Racehorse) ($16,000,000)

The most expensive horse ever is the racehorse named Green Monkey which was bought at $16 million in January 2006 in an auction. People who witnessed the horse run during a breezing exercise said that Green Monkey ran like the wind, drilling a furlong in 9.8 seconds.

This outrageously expensive racehorse was reported to run so light that people could not hear his feet hit the ground while he’s running. Surprisingly, the racehorse never won a race.
